Chiefs Sign Third Round Pick Asamoah

Chiefs Sign Third Round Pick Asamoah

Eric Berry remains lone holdout

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has signed third-round draft pick OL Jon Asamoah.

Asamoah (6-4, 305) was the first of Kansas City’s two third-round picks (68th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played in 42 games (37 starts) at Illinois, opening every contest during his final three seasons.

He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior and also received the 2010 Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor for his achievements on the football field and in the classroom.

Asamoah was a two-time first-team All-South Inter-Athletic Association Conference selection at Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois, earning all-state honors as a senior from the Chicago Sun-Times.

That leaves top pick, Eric Berry, as the only unsigned rookie. The defensive back out of Tennessee was the fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft. None of the top 20 picks have signed contracts.

The Chiefs report to their first training camp in St Joseph, Mo. Thursday afternoon.
