About KC Metro Sports

Metro Sports, part of the Kansas City division of Time Warner Cable, is Kansas City's 24-hour all-sports television network. It's shown on Time Warner Cable Channel 30, and on Comcast and Sunflower cable systems in the greater Kansas City area. Metro Sports features live and taped telecasts of sporting events, studio shows, original documentary-style programs, blocks of ESPNEWS, and other sports programming.

About Metro Sports Youth

Metro Sports' new youth sports department is committed to advancing the positive aspects of youth sports by promoting sportsmanship and character building and rewarding those attributes with special recognition.

Metro Sports will be hosting several youth sports tournaments, clinics, leagues and events throughout the metro as well as providing television coverage on Metro Sports. Most of the events will be followed by a special TV program featuring people and teams that participated in the event.

Personalities

Brad Porter

Brad Porter

An Emmy winning anchor/reporter, Porter has been with Metro Sports since it launched Dec. 12, 1996. Porter regularly covers the biggest sporting events, which includes the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four, the Big 12 Basketball Championships, Chiefs, Royals, Wizards, as well as major colleges and high schools. He lives in the beautiful Waldo area of Kansas City with his family.

Chris Gough

Chris Gough

Chris is a Mizzou grad with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. After college, he went to work as a television writer for World Wrestling Entertainment in Stamford, Connecticut. In 2004, Chris returned to his hometown to begin work as an anchor and reporter for Metro Sports in Kansas City.

David Neilson

David Neilson

David Neilson’s primary duties are in master control ensuring broadcasts go on-air without a hitch. However, possessing versatility, he’s appeared on Metro Sports Talk and Bragging Rights offering his opinion on a variety of sports-related issues. Neilson’s knowledge of sports, specifically the National Football League, led to Metro Sports appointing him as a co-host for its new 2007 fall show, Fantasy Huddle.

Dave Stweart

Dave Stewart

Broadcast veteran Dave Stewart made the jump to Time Warner Cable as Senior On Air Personality in September 2001. He previously worked as Sports Director of KMBC, the local ABC affiliate. Dave's broadcasting honors include two Regional Emmys and the Joe McGuff Sports Journalist of the Year Award. He grew up in Overland Park and is a graduate of SM South High School and Kansas State University.

Erik Ashel

Erik Ashel

An Emmy winning producer, Ashel, who joined Metro Sports in 2004, also serves as an anchor and reporter. Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Ashel is a 2000 graduate from the University of Kansas. Erik’s television career began as a sports reporter/photographer at KTKA in Topeka. Ashel is a regular anchor for Metro Sports Talk, Metro Sports Zone, High School Roundup and other shows.

Erin Bajackson

Erin Bajackson

Erin Bajackson came to Metro Sports in June 2004 as an anchor/reporter. She currently serves regularly as the co-anchor of the High School Roundup and the weekend anchor for KCTV 5. Before coming to Metro Sports, Erin spent two years as a sports anchor/reporter for KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Fred White

Fred White

A winner of numerous industry awards, White handles the Royals’ broadcast services and oversees the club’s alumni group. He rejoined the organization in 2001 after serving as an announcer on the Royals Radio Network from 1974-1998. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, White has been named the Kansas Sportscaster of the Year several times. He and his wife, Barb, reside in Leawood, Kan. He has three children, Stacy, John and Joe Brett.

Herbie Teope joined Metro Sports in June 2006 as a sports writer for the website. An award-winning writer and member of the Pro Football Writers of America and Kansas Professional Communicators, Teope co-hosts the Fantasy Huddle, Metro Sports’ NFL & Fantasy Football show.

Kennetra Pulliams

Kennetra Pulliams

Kennetra is excited to be back in Big 12 country. A University of Texas graduate, she's worked in Abilene, TX as well as Richmond, VA. Aside from an obvious love of sports, Kennetra also enjoys reading, going to the grocery store and watching Food Network.

Leif Lisec

Leif Lisec

Lisec joined Metro Sports in 2004 after KCTV-5 outsourced sports coverage and has covered the World Series, Super Bowl and the NCAA Men’s Final Four. A 1985 graduate of the University of Kansas, Lisec has roots in Kansas City and is a proud 1981 graduate of Park Hill High School. You can catch Lisec as the lead anchor for Metro Sports Talk. You can also hear him in the mornings on the no. 1 rated Johnny Dare Show on 98.9 The Rock FM.

Matt Fulks

Matt Fulks

Matt Fulks is as a published author, editor and sports broadcaster. In addition to being a regular contributor to various publications, he is the author/co-author of 12 books, including "More than the Score: Kansas City Sports Memories." Matt, a regular on Metro Sports programs, resides in the Kansas City area with his wife Libby and their three children.

Mick Shaffer

Mick Shaffer

Shaffer, a four-time Emmy winning anchor/reporter, joined Metro Sports in 2001 and has covered Chiefs training camp, the Gateway Football Conference, the Missouri Valley Basketball Conference, NCAA Men's Final Four and high school sports. Originally from Caldwell, Kan., Shaffer lives in Johnson County with his family.
